When you book a trip to Walt Disney World, some of your many benefits include getting Magic Bands!

What are Magic Bands, you ask?

They are wristbands that guests use for many purposes. They can be your door key to your resort. They can be your charge card, if you’ve attached a credit card to them.  They can be your dining plan ticket if you have the dining plan.  And they are also your FastPass tool.

mbtwo389795711Magic Bands come in 8 different colors – Purple, Blue, Red, Green, Orange, Yellow, Grey and Pink, and are complementary to those guest staying on property, and available for purchase to those guests who are off-property.

If you are off-property and do want a Magic Band, the basic color bands are $12.95 at nearly any gift shop on Disney property.  When you purchase, they will immediately move any information from your paper/plastic/card ticket to your Magic Band. (There are dozens, maybe 100s, of different designer Magic Bands featuring everything from Star Wars to Small World to Princesses to Hercules, and those start at 19.95 and up)

You do not have to have a Magic Band as your ticket or your or FastPass, as you can request a card ticket instead.

Your FastPasses are done 60 ahead of time for on-property guests, and 30 days out from your trip for off-property and day guests, and selections are available starting at 6a Central, 7a Eastern, through your Disney app or your My Disney Experience account online.

Now, how are they structured?  What do you pick?  How many do you get?  I need answers!

Easy! You get 3 each day to begin your day. You can choose 3 from one park for a day of your trip, then when you arrive for your vacation, get to the park and use all three of your FastPasses, you can then get a 4th FastPass, either by going to a FP Kiosk or using your smart phone Disney app.  After you use your 4th, you can get a 5th,  then once your 5th is used (or it expires), then you can get a 6th and on and on.  FastPasses are always based on availability, so something that you may love in the morning may not be available in the afternoon or evening. (When we book your trip, you’ll get lots more FastPass help!)

At Magic Kingdom, you may choose 3 of any of the attractions for your initial 3.  At Hollywood Studios, Epcot, and Animal Kingdom, you will be given two tiers — you’ll be able to pick one from Tier 1, which are usually the premiere attractions, then pick two FPs from Tier 2.  Once all three of your first FPs are used, you may choose your next from any tier you like, based on availability.
